Is The World Of Color Dessert Party Worth The Price?

 I love desserts.

And being able to sit at the end of the day after walking and sweating for hours at the parks is a big plus for me.

World Of Color is a spectacular show at Disney's California Adventure. It's a water show complete with lights and a beautiful story where you'll see clips from popular Pixar and Disney films.

I might have teared up a bit.

It runs for 22 minutes and some nights there are two shows: at 9 PM and 1015 PM. Most people start gathering to watch an hour before, sometimes more, to get a good spot.

But if you make a reservation for a Dessert Party, you don't need to worry about that.

We opted for the 9 PM show so we checked in for our reservation at 7. This isn't when we sat down, no, it was simply when we let them know we were coming and we got to pick our table. I recommend checking in early--all the seats are good, but some are better than others.

You'll receive a bracelet like this:

Then at 8 you return to check in and are led to the table you picked. You'll see this sign:

I love desserts, so I was excited. We were given this menu so we'd know what was being offered. If you have dietary restrictions, they will accommodate that:

The desserts aren't all you can eat but you can have as many drinks as you'd like. Yes, there's booze too if the kids have been particularly annoying that day. Me, I stuff my face with sweets when I'm stressed so this party was right up my alley.

The desserts were served quickly and everything looked delicious. They also brought out waters at the same time so if you're parched, you're in luck:

I ate everything, I won't even lie. And if you don't eat it all, they do bring to go boxes. My daughter didn't finish hers so we brought it back to the hotel and she ate the rest of her treats for breakfast. I had asked if I could have her macaron since it was just SITTING ON HER PLATE and she looked horrified at the thought. "I," she said primly, "will be eating it in the morning."

Tommy decided to try the Sparkling Raspberry Lemonade. I ended up ordering one later one in the night and it had a nice flavor:

Sitting by the water in the evening can get a little chilly, so I also got a hot chocolate. It wasn't watery at all and had a pleasing chocolate flavor. I think I had 2 of these.

I also got many Diet Cokes, which arrived in a can. Our waiter was very kind. "Another drink, miss?" he'd ask me even though he might have been thinking, "Damn, is this woman a camel or what? How many Diet Cokes, waters, hot chocolates and sparkling lemonades can one human consume?"

(I lost count, sir.)

The show began, and as I mentioned, it was lovely and I did cry a bit as I stuffed cheese and Mickey shaped Rice Krispy treats into my mouth.

You can feel that warmth from the fire, let me tell you! Free facial?

Seeing scenes from favorite Disney movies was fun:

Now the price. It isn't cheap. It's $89 a person, and this includes tax & gratuity. Was it worth it? Now, the desserts certainly are not worth $89. They were good, but not $89 good.

But I did like how we had a reserved seat. And that we could SIT. Not everyone who watched the show without a reservation were able to sit. Plus they were all bunched together. If you do the dessert party, you're spaced apart from others. Personal space for the win!

And, did I mention you are guaranteed a SEAT?

Plus you can get all the drinks you want, including alcohol, and yes, I took advantage of that.

For that reason, I think it is worth it. By the end of the night you want to relax, and this dessert party allows you do so.

You can make reservations here 60 days before you visit.

We opted for the first show so we could do a few more rides afterwards. If you do the second, the park will generally be closed by the end of it.

Have you ever seen the World Of Color show?
