So.
You might have heard that I went to this little place called Disney World. (My husband was supposed to come with us but the military said he had to deploy. You might recall the post I did on it called The Pity Flowers. My mother was able to come in Tom's place.)
It wasn't our first time at Disney World. We went in 2008 and 2013. (To read those blog posts, I have a Disney World tag.) But it was our first time staying at Port Orleans: Riverside. Before we stayed at Port Orleans: New Orleans and All Stars Music. My favorite of the bunch? Port Orleans: Riverside.
It was gorgeous. I decided to reserve the royal rooms.

Natalie's favorite part?
The headboards light up!
We arrived in the evening, so we decided to head to Downtown Disney. If you stay at the Port Orleans resorts, you can take a boat to Downtown Disney.
We ate at The Earl of Sandwich. I recommend the Holiday sandwich. It tastes like an entire Thanksgiving meal.
I also had to stop at Ghirardelli.
I should point out here that we had the dining plan with Disney World. We had the middle option where you got one sit down meal, one quick service meal (like Earl of Sandwich), and one snack. Plus you got the refillable mugs at your resort. This meant I could fill it with Diet Coke as often as I'd like. (But only at the resort.)
We didn't stay at Downtown Disney long, because it was late, and we were tired. Plus it was crowded. AND we wanted to get to bed early enough so we wouldn't be exhausted for our first day at...Magic Kingdom!
(To be continued..)

What a great trip! I've never been to Disney World but I have been to Disneyland more times than I can count. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot. Just when I think I wasn't such a bad mom after all I am reminded I never took my kids to Disney World. But I did make them watch calves, pigs and goats being born. That should count for something right? Seriously, love your blog and your bravery when hubbie is gone. Thanks so much to BOTH of you for your service. This Navy mom appreciates it.
ReplyDeleteSorry your husband couldn't make it!
ReplyDeleteThis trip looks fun!
Wow, looks and sounds amazing! Even *I* like the fact that the headboards light up! Im looking forward to your next Disney post, hehe.

ReplyDeleteThe Royal Rooms! Scarlet would have a field day.
ReplyDeleteAlso Ghirardelli is a great place to walk into three times, just to get three samples! And their lattes are out of this world.
Downtown Disney was SO different this year than it was in early 2014. So many new places.
What a great rooms and the dining plan! Can't wait to hear more about your trip!
ReplyDeleteI am so jonesing to go to Disney! I have never been and neither have my kids!
ReplyDeleteI've been to Disney World a few times, but I've never stayed at any of the hotels. It sounds lovely!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty room!
ReplyDeleteWow, I thought the picture of the lit up headboard was fireworks at first! So cool. I loved reading about this place- never been to Disney World myself, but it's fun to read about other people's experiences. (I would have stopped at Ghiradelli too!)
ReplyDeleteLighted headboards... AWESOME!! WE stayed at the Orleans one in 2009 and loved it!! Nice and comfy. Going back in November and staying at the All Star Movie.
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing, because our first night in Disney World in November was EXACTLY the same as yours. We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside in a royal room, went to Downtown Disney on the boat, ate at Earl of Sandwich and then had a sundae at Ghirardelli. And even my 19 and 17 year old boys loved the light up headboards!
ReplyDeleteLove the pics and it looks like a fantastic time!
